Those in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEM) understand the benefit of diversity. We also know that biases, including those within colleges and universities, have marginalized many different groups and denied opportunities in STEM. How do we untie ourselves from these practices? How do we give ourselves access to the full range of talent for STEM? We’re proud to introduce a new initiative of the AAAS that supports a community committed to and working to achieve diversity and inclusion in STEM—SEA Change. Using the SEA Change framework, which is inspired by the Athena SWAN gender equity charter in the United Kingdom, institutions undertake a self-assessment of their policies, programs, processes, and practices to determine what barriers exist that would hamper access to STEM for groups marginalized within STEM. They will develop a thoughtful plan to address barriers, with research-based actions that collectively begin to change their system to one that is supportive of success for all. The second place to look for crypto jobs is the websites of the crypto projects and crypto companies you know and love. Cryptocurrency exchanges like Binance and Coinbase are always hiring, and they usually have their own dedicated job portals on their websites. Finally, you can see if there are any opportunities to find temporary employment for DAO governed cryptocurrencies. These are often open to funding initiatives that boost the value of their ecosystem. 📃Crypto Career Tips 📃 First tip, trust your gut. There are a lot of shady crypto businesses out there, so don’t hesitate to look to greener pastures if you feel you’ve stumbled into something illegitimate. Second tip, be personable and perceptive. The cryptocurrency space is close knit, and this means you want to be on good terms with everyone. Third tip, consider becoming a freelancer. That way when you do work for a crypto company, they can write off the work you do as a business expense. This means that you will often make more than if you were an employee. Fourth tip, know your worth. For the time being, you do not have to compete with very many people to get a job in crypto. Agriculture will have to change drastically in the future if it is to meet global demand. Food production will become increasingly difficult in the face of growing challenges like rapid population growth, climate change and soil exhaustion. In Berlin, too, you can find lettuces growing in beds without soil and under artificial lighting next to restaurant kitchens or in some supermarkets. But in Japan and the US the practice of growing vegetables in huge factory buildings has been around longer. These are a world away from your normal greenhouses. The plants are grown in sterile conditions without the use of any pesticides. The fruit and vegetables produced can be eaten without being washed. And the yield is 100 times greater than in a same-sized area outdoors. The Japanese maker of such high-tech farms is successfully exporting them around the world - to customers in the Arab Emirates and in Asia’s megacities, for example. We will all have to wake up to the fact that food production methods will have to change if our food supplies are to be secure in the future. Increasingly, our cities will have to come up with ways of growing more for themselves and becoming less dependent on rural areas and global food supply chains.
